  • Photographing Nursery Kids

Recently I had the opportunity to work with an ex-colleague to photograph nursery kids in nursery centers.

It wasn't my first time taking portrait photos but it was my first time being paid to do it and my first time photographing kids below four years old. Believe me it's not very easy to get their attention or to have them pose in the way you want them to. Some of them just stare into space or look at the floor when you're trying to photograph them. The school wanted a half-length portrait of each of the students to file and a group photo for each class. The group was not easy to take. You always had the one kids who was looking somewhere else. I learned the beauty of the shutter release - you could wave your hand or toy to get them to look in your direction then snap.

Below are a few of the better portraits.

I changed the background from white to this blue...experimenting with PS.

Ok that's all for now. For those of you who don't know I am finally done with my National Service. Currently I am doing some temp admin job. Also waiting to start part-time studies again. Peace

  • NYIP Unit 3 photo project

I finally came down to printing and sending my NYIP Unit three photo project. Below are the photos which I sent let me know you comments on them.

I was supposed to use side lighting to emphasize surface texture.

here I was supposed to use backlighting to enhance the subject

In this photo - use "open shade" to photograph a person outdoors

In these two photos I was supposed to use a reflector board as a second light source. The first photo is without the reflector board the second one is with the reflector board.

  • Cityscape at night

Yesterday one of my colleagues organized a night-shoot around the Marina Bay area of the city. We started just after sunset till almost mid-night.

I had some opportunity to share some small tips to several of the new budding photographers. At the same time I got a chance to practice after several months of being dormant. Below are some of the shots.

This is probably my best shot of the night...view of Fullerton Hotel from the Marina Bay Waterfront area

The Helix Bridge into the Marina Bay Sands

  • The new Woodlands Waterfront

Saturday my family decided to cycle to the new Woodlands Waterfront. It's a new park currently still under construction. It's situated just next to the Causeway.

I decided to bring along my camera. I was wanting to take some photos for the NYIP Photo project but it turned out the sky wasn't very much in favor so I took some landscape shots.

Below are two of them after PS processing.

  • First ever diving trip

It's been awhile since I've last updated my blog.

Nothing much significant has happened since mainly the normal things in life.

Last weekend though I went for my first ever diving trip with several of my NS colleagues. We had a blast & of course a little wildness. When you have a bunch of National Service guys together that's what's expected.

We left Singapore on friday night, slept over that night in Mersing, Malaysia, then headed out on the boat for Tioman at 5:30 in the morning on Saturday. On the way we detoured to several smaller islands and did three dives. Each about 40 minutes long. As we're new we tend to use up the air in the tank very quickly. Breathing underwater is definitely something that you have to get used to. But once you do the view & the weightlessness is just awesome. I've yet to master the techniques though.

We reached Tioman somewhere in the evening. Had a huge dinner. Slept. Then headed out to sea again the next day for out last two dives.

Below are some of the pictures taken

About Me

  • I'm from a homeschooled family of nine children and I'm the oldest of them. I have given my life to Jesus and made Him king of my life. I love being with frineds and doing constructive activities with them. Just hanging out and playing some sports or having a snack makes me smile. At the same time I'm a bucket-mouth haha..... God made me that way :D
